Grebbelinie
The Grebbelinie is originally a water line that runs from the Lower Rhine near the Grebbeberg, through Veenendaal and Amersfoort to Spakenburg. The Grebbelinie has a rich history with its active role in national defense in which the line was flooded to ward off the enemy. Quarantines, inundations, evacuations and battles have left numerous traces and stories that are still visible in the picturesque places along the line. Old locks, concrete casemates, tank barriers and German bunkers provide an encounter with more than two centuries of national defense.
